First post. Please be kind.

Have not seen any post on it yet, so here goes. OfficeMax has the APC Battery Backup ES 350 UPS for $40-$15IR-$15MIR=$10+tax.

Don't know how to link yet, but just search for item # 20062968.

Excellent deal on a quality UPS. Keep in mind this model does not have replaceable batteries (although you'd pay almost this much just for a replacement battery anyways!)

Great post! Welcome to Anandtech!

Will this thing be able to handle a decent load? I'm looking at putting it on my my machine (1.4GHz T-bird, 400W Sparkle PS), and my 17" monitor.

I've gotten one from a previous deal.. I think its the same model. Its powering my 21" monitor, and my system (1.6a @ 2.1, 400watt psu)
But I've never seen how long it'll stay up. It does good for the 1-8 second power blips though.

not a coupon, its a rebate.

same thing happened with the last deal, some people were refused the rebate, others got it. I got mine.
Another thing that happened last time was the advertised model was different than the instore model.

yes it is a reabate, my mistake. it still sounds like the rebate might be a hit and miss deal.

You can replace the battery if you can find one -- it's a smaller battery, but it can be removed -- as mentioned, the cost would probably be more. You have to open it and take the battery out to connect the battery battery to the unit. At $9.99 after $15 MIR, who cares, it's an APC. Picked one up yesterday, sent in the rebate today.

BTW, my loaded 300W PS PIII with 17" monitor says it has 46 minutes available. I don't believe it. ;)

Yup, I once bought one of these units just for the battery, to use in another application.

Doesn't seem quite accurate ;), but where do you pull up that info anyways? I looked in power options, and it had info on the UPC, but didn't see any estimated battery time listing.

There is no such model as BE350C - it must be a misprint. The picture is of a BE350U, the rebate is for a BE350U; I predict the only folks who will be refused the rebate are those that don't follow the instructions. (eg. send it in after the deadline, or send in two rebates to the same household...etc)

I got this model before. It is good.

But, one thing need to be mentioned:

I'd ever encountered a whole town power off this summer. At that time, I'm at home. Of course the UPS works. But for my PIII system with 17'' CRT monitor, it last less than 2 minutes. So it is good for me to save my email which I was writing at that point, but not long enough to shut down my system. If you need longer supporting time, you should choose those more expensive models.

Was for me, in south Florida. This is apparently a regional thing - the rebate form indicates where it is valid (don't remember off hand - I applied on-line).
