Howdy,

Price match and mail in rebate involved here.

Currently MEI Microcenter (Online and physical store)has the APC BackUps Pro 1100va for $149 straight Microcenter Ad , APC BP1100va Unit Specs
Go to your nearest CompUSA and have them pricematch MEI Microcenter. Currently CompUSA has a $50 instant rebate and a $50 mail in rebate.

CompUSA gives you the pricematch to $149.99 (lucky ones with a B&M Microcenter) and you send in the CompUSA $50 rebate Rebate PDF

So for approx $100 you have a nice APC BackUps Pro 1100va

Virginia = Fairlakes CompUSA pricematched without a problem and had approx 12 more units. Yes, a Microcenter is about 6 miles down the road from there too.

Later Mike

Hmmm... CompUSA's price is $199 so you don't have to do the price match if they already have a $50 instant rebate... correct?

Seems like a good price for an 1100va UPS.

EDIT: Actually cancel that...

Current Rebate:

To view rebate PDF files, download the latest version of Acrobat Reader.
Valid From: 1/27/02
Valid To: 2/2/02
Rebate Details:
Regular Retail Price: $299.99
-$50.00 Instant Saving

You Pay: $249.99 Price after instant rebates, if any
-$50.00 Mfr. Mail-in Rebate

CompUSA Price: $199.99 Price after instant & mail-in rebates

So the regular price is actually $299.99 and you pricematch it down to $150. Then use the $50 MIR! This is a HOT DEAL! I'm taking this tomorrow morning and i'm gonna go buy 2!

How does this deal work? According to the CompUSA website ONLY the B&M has a price matching guarantee and then only for other local B&M stores. So is this possible if you don't live near a Microcenter?

Tad noisy for me.

Howdy,

This is the new 2002 model Back Ups Pro 1100va which was on display at Fall Comdex 2001. The APC web site leaves a lot to be desired. The search is horrible. Anyway, the unit is just about the same as the 1000va model.

Huh? 50dBA? Someone is lying... Unless they are talking about when your power is off and you hear the audible alarm?

Yeah, its just a battery. How does a battery emit sound louder than a Delta 7k when it doesn't have any moving parts...?

Uh, never mind. The net weight is 42.60 lbs. Make sure you use a hand cart if you're going to be moving it without a car.

Its not the battery that makes the sound usually... its mostly the transformer, and it makes a humming sound. I bought an old smartups 900, and you can hear it hum once the computer is off... I have it in my bedroom, but its never kept me up, its not that loud... definatly not 50 dbA at 1 meter.

The CompUSA Manager by Landmark Mall, in VA would not pricematch to 149 since he said that with the $50 rebate, I might *gasp* get the thing for $100. So he sold it to me for $200 -- since they are only required to pricematch after all rebates, etc -- or so he said. And then they didn't event have any rebate forms instock.

I popped into another CompUSA on the way home and they had a boat load of them (the other store only had 4; 3 of which were AWOL). They pricematched properly to 149. I picked up two. They tried to sell me 3-year $20 service plans on each one. The $200 one is going back on Monday.

The sound level measurement is for the 1000va model.

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure thats the sound output of the Alarms. Many bigger UPS's have fans running in them, usually server grade fans (big, loud, and high volume). Better models will ramp up fan speed as the DC-to-AC coverter heats up, but most just have a one speed, and reliable fan.

Anyhow....might have to dig for this one.... I have belkin and APCC 280va hooked to my monitor and computer, their batteries are getting weak.

You usually won't get a fan on your UPS until you hit 2000va or 3000va. I doubt the 1100 one has a fan (although I haven't checked this one).

Yah, its probably for the alarm... btw most ups you can disable the alarm... unless they are really cheap, or off name brands.

280va? Jeez that's a small one... probably runs your comp/monitor for 3 mins? :)

yep! Enough for me to shutdown. :).

Anyhow, don't think this deal will work.

1. Read CompUSA's pricematch policy below....
2. Isn't microcenter an On-Line merchant?
3. Microcent sure isn't a "local store" for me......

"CompUSA?s Retail Store Low Price Guarantee.
*We'll beat any legitimate price from any local authorized retail store on every product we sell, either at the time of purchase or within the following 14 days. Our low price guarantee pertains to all new, factory-sealed products of the same brand and model number that are available and in-stock at any local authorized retail store. Our guarantee does not apply to competitors' one-of-a-kind or other limited-quantity offers, special financing, installation, online competitors, rebates or when a bonus or free offer is included in the purchase. *Some restrictions apply.
*Training Classes: Training class pricing may vary in Hawaii. Contact local store for details."

CompUSA will only PM with other local retail stores. Microcenter has stores in only 12 states, check out their website. If you're lucky enough to live in one of these 12 states, good chance you'll get the PM. Otherwise, not sure if you must live in the same actual city where a Microcenter store is.
