Yea, it's different. The model number one this one is BK500 and the model number on that other deal was BE500 which looks like was discontinued. I can't find the BE500 on APC's website.

I couldn't find BE500C on APC's website either but when asked if it's a discontinued product, here's APC's response:

"please note that the Back-UPS ES units are our latest series of UPS units. These units are only available for purchase at a certain chain of outlets. These units will not be sold online or through other resellers. This is the reason why this UPS unit is not listed on our website. "

Just picked one up from CompUSA for $40 after $15 rebate. Next time when the plug is knocked off I won't loss all the work!!

The BE500C is a nice unit if you can find them. I picked up two (one at Outpost.com for 30-15 MIR, one at Staples for 45-15 MIR -15 BVG).

The powerchute software is apparently not compatible with WinXP at this time. Not sure if APC has plans to update this software . . .

Northland

Northland,
According to APC's website, the Business edition of PowerChute is compatible w/ XP.

It seems that there's a downloadable free version of it on the page.

So you paid only $10 for the UPS from Staples?? Could u tell me if it was from their website or local store?? And what's BVG??

BVG = Best Value Garantee. It's the nickname for the American Express Blue Card pricematch
