I am just creating as a new thread as most of the poeple here don't read all the way, and I posted this info in the '350' thread

This is a good deal, but I've got a question: got a link for the MIR? I looked on APC's site and couldn't even find a rebate area. Either I'm stupid or they go outta their way to hide it.

Why not simply buy it through OD online and use a $20 off $100 coupon? (add something for a penny or so)
Have it shipped to the B & M Aand get the $30 rebate at the store?
Your end cost comes to $49.99 + tax.

Still a very good deal.

very nice deal cause it's something that everyone should prolly have, rather than so many of the other stuff round here that is even cheaper, but not useful. need that rebate info tho, for sure! B&M stores (OD especially) are hit and miss with what they do display-wise... more so with actually putting MIR's on display. grrreat deal for 40-50 bux.

Fiddler, the $15 rebate for what you linked to was for the Back-UPS *Office* 500, which is different from the Back-UPS 500. The Office one has 6 outlets instead of two and no serial port connection (among other differences, I'm sure). Just an FYI.

Thanks Vengog, I'll have to head out tomorrow morning and look for that rebate. If I find it, I'm jumping on this.

I don't think Staples is one of the eligible purchase locations for the MIR. Otherwise, Staples would have it in their Rebate Center (which BTW is quite good).

The answer, Mysterie, is "probably". I just made a quick assumption and, on second glance, it was just that. You see, the picture of the Office 350 & 500 look just like the old Office 280 that I still have (which doesn't have a serial connection). I simply assumed that the Office line didn't have serial connections, but it seems they added them on the higher-end models (I'm assuming this by the fact that these two models state that they have "free file-saving, auto-shutdown software", meaning there HAS to be a serial or USB connection). So then the only difference between the Office and the standard model seems to be the number of outlets unless, again, I'm proven wrong.

Here are the links to the APC site. The pages for the APC Back-UPS 500 and the Back-UPS Office 500 both say "Basic UPS signalling RS-232 cable". The "Office" models cost less, but it isn't clear why. The "regular" models have "user-replacable batteries".

But it's no deal for me without both a MIR + a coupon!!!

if you go to an od and they don't have a rebate form for an item they have in ad, you need to complain to distric mgmt; that's ridiculous that they shouldn't have it--they just have to get off their lazy behinds AND LOOK FOR IT
btw i got one today at the b&m--didn't know about this--does odonline take money orders? i'll take this one back

There's no store limitation in the MIR form. I didn't OD name showing up.

There're lots of MIR forms for APC 500VA here.
But out of items.
Since I placed order online and try to pick up local,
they offer me Belkin 525VA-SER with $49.99 instead (no MIR needed).

Although I don't know whether Belkin one is better or worse, I took it anyway.

Could anyone show me whether it is good deal or not?

Can somebody like scan in a copy of the mail in rebate.. because the staples 30 bux off 100 I can find but I cannot find any other kind of rebate from staples or apc.

I tried to PM this morning at Staples and the CSR apparently lied to me and told me the item is out-of-stock in both the areas I asked for (home & work zip codes). He tried to explain it was a limited-stock sale item, or some lame excuse like that. Unless I'm mistaken, their price on this item has not been low enough to bring a flood of buyers to deplete their stock.

Anyhow, instead of dealing with their incompetence, I decided to just buy from OfficeDepot.com w/ the $20 off $100 that's available. While I'm paying a little bit more, as long as they are actually in stock, the convenience of ordering online outweighs the cost difference for me. Now I need to swing by a B&M store to pick up the rebate form.

As always, YMMV w/ Staples.

I just bought a Belkin 425VA UPS and the damn thing won't back up my 300W 1 Ghz Athlon.

It doesn't change from AC to battery fast enough to prevent it from shutting down.

Plus, there is nothing else plugged into the UPS either. Just the PC. The monitor and everything else is plugged into an AC outlet.
