Sweet need one of these for the wireless printer I just got.
Thanks OP! I am going to pick it up instore though. read the Rebate Coupon notice it even says in big bold print.
"This Product must be Purchased In-Store Only not valid on website purchases"
So getting it online with free shipping voids the rebate, I bet they would reject and in store pickup too.

"This Product must be Purchased In-Store Only not valid on website purchases IN ALASKA AND HAWAII only"

I think this rebate is still valid for online orders in the continental US.

According to APC this will not work, as all UPS's after the first will go to battery, as they see the output of the preceeding UPS as being too "dirty."

Somewhat unrelated, but I have been looking online and haven't found the answer yer....
With allt he hurricanes and power issues we are having in FL, I would like the UPS to switch to battery power without any beeps telling me it's on battery that always happen in the middle of the night and wake me up.
Anyone know how to tell it not to beep? I have a few smaller UPS models like the 300 and 500 series.
Thanks.

yup, open the case and cut out the speaker...

i have two different APC's, and neither of them have any facility to eliminate the beeping...i suppose you could wire a switch inline on one of the speaker wires...that'd be my only guess.

on most of the APCs you will find a series of dipswitches on the back or in the battery compartment that control among other things whether they beep or not.

I know it's not advisable... the crack was more at how every other week it seems this deal is on at one store or another :)

I was gonna go for this but decided on the Belkin 500VA for $19.99AR at CompUSA this week, solely because I absolutely HATE the top-plugging brick design of APC's lower-end UPS'es. It's tough to make floor room for those things under the desk!

Why isn't the output read as super-clean? That's what they always adverise these things as doing.

Yup - do what I did to mine. I got out the soldering iron, opened up the UPS, removed the circuit board, and took out the little cylindrical beeper. Not so much as a peep from it now. :)
Was kind of stupid of them to exclude any kind of silencing option. Oh well - I found a permanent solution.

The output is a modified sine wave - it's not smooth like the sine wave power from the wall. It's a digital approximation, which is blocky. Link. This is fine for things like computers, because their power supplies do so much adjusting to incoming power, that none of the effects of the SSW make it down to the hardware. However, when this power comes into a UPS, it puts a strain on the power filtering circuitry, and I think that increases the current draw, which can overload the first power supply.

Here's what my Back-UPS 500VA offers me. I think the second set of options is for the unit's internal speaker, but I haven't had the chance to find out yet, so I can't say for sure.

BTW, I don't know what that "Estimated Battery Time" of 71 mins is suggesting, but it's surely not that it'll power this 19" CRT for that long. :)

what DOES work is to use 1 UPS for your rig and another for your monitor. ;)

(after 5 years of "hot deals", i have older and less powerful UPSes "backing" up VCRs, telephone answering machines and CFLs)

Finally jumped on it :) ordered oniline for instore pickup. I just got an HP PSC 2510 All in one and it needed a surge protector w/ Phone Line Protection. Thanks for the deal OP, for me it's like getting the UPS part for free.

I still need a UPS/Surge protectior for my Cable Modem and Wireless router. Now if I could just find a APC BE725BB Broadband 35-Minute Backup 725VA UPS for $19.99 I'd be set. Looks like it's Already Clerenced so maybe a deal soon.. ;)

After rebate, I got this thing for $10.

When I went into the store to exchange the 350VA they sent me instead of the 500VA, I noticed the sign on the shelf said there was a $30 MIR. I asked the manager about it. He said it was a misprint and will refund me $10 cash. So, after tax, I got it for $13.
