APC 650va UPS Battery Backup

Nice! Cancelled my order from Newegg for this and am picking it up tomorrow at my local OD.

Just saved me $23. Thanks!

It has power conditioning, so can someone explain to me what the difference between that and voltage regulation? Is AVR better than power conditioning?

edit: looking things over, it seems that power conditioning is just another term for surge protection

and AVR....at least on my APC 1200va unit...is just to protect against over and under voltage.

Mine is set to goto to UPS battery power if AC goes over 136v or below 104v. (the tightest settings).

You'll never get true power conditioning / AVR in a home UPS.

That takes 110v AC converts it to DC, then back to a clean AC signal. Cheaper units will use a stepped AC wave....better units, like the 15kv unit in my test room at work, produce a sine-wave AC current.

My $.02

Good information to know. I was going to get this for my home server today, maybe I'll look for a higher end unit now. Thanks!

The RS line of APC units are line interactive and are not terribly expensive (start around $100).
