Tried to order this afternoon. Mine went up in price in the middle of placing the order online. Started out at the 29.99, ordered two, used he coupon, gave the cc info, and bam-charged up at 99+. Had to call to cancel the order. (*&^%*&^%*&^% couldn't believe it-in the cart at 29.99 then checkout at 59.99. Thats what I get for spending the morning actually working!!

I'll mail in 1 set of the rebates (each with real UPC :) ) so I'll end up getting 2 for $22. awesome. I was planning on doing one for the $30 AR that was in the ad, but this is much better.
awesome, my 2 are out for delivery today. and wow, 32 pounds to ship...that free shipping really came in handy :)

I ordered mine online yesterday morning at the $29.99 price. When I picked it up yesterday afternoon it was surprisingly heavy.

Now, to send in the rebates... Oh, speaking of, are those of you who did in-store pickup sending in the invoice you got at the store as your receipt, or using the e-mail confirmation, or both, or what?

I'm not taking any chances. I'll try both.

sorry for the dumb question, but how are you guys getting free shipping? I'm getting hit with a "small order handling fee"

edit: oh duh, I need to add $0.01

the price seems to be back up to $49. I used a $10 off $50, so with the rebates, it should come out to $13. nice! Thanks OP.

Would you please test yours if you got it.

After 20 hours of charging, I disconnected the power cord to get only 24 seconds of battery power for this computer system:

[185] FSB x 13 = 2405 MHz @ 1.80 Vcore with memory frequency at 100% [185 FSB] @ 2.90 Vdimm

The box says 18 minutes with 15" monitor...etc and then it says 7 minutes with 21" monitor, isn't the whole point to get a few minutes to finish up what you're doing in case of power outtage? I get 24 seconds with a 21" monitor.

Yeah and the specs they are quoting for is a non-overclocked system!!! Of course it is going to use up more power!!!! Why else do you think you had to buy a good power supply in order to do the overclock in the first place? If you read the fine print, it is expecting a 250-300 Watt power supply. Not a 400 Watt overclock monster with 5 case fans, a cpu fan, a video card fan and a 2 power supply fans. The specs are rated for you average 2 fan Dell.

If you wanted to see what "your" system's load is, you should have gone to their website and use the UPS finder service to find out what your requirements actually are. I bet if you plug in your system it will tell you the 500VA UPS will last 20-30 seconds.

Thanks Fallen Kell, that makes sense.

Also, what's the USB to LAN cable for again?

"It allows windows to track the battery life and for you to set backup procedures (eg. shutting down when battery is at 10%). After 30 seconds of battery usage, my status says 90% full, so at this rate I should get around 5 minutes worth, which is plenty.

BTW, I have a 17" CRT, 350w PS, Radeon 9700 Pro, 2 optical drives, 1 hard drive, 2 fans, 2.4c pentium. I also have my MX Duo hooked up to the battery, since I kinda need mouse/keyboard control to save and shut down)"

jayman7

This guy gets 5 minutes worth, in comparison, I have more case fans, 1 extra hard drive, overclocked system, 21" monitor, which drastically reduces things for me.

If it's the same cable that came with my larger APC UPS units that I bought before, it's not a USB to LAN cable. It's a APC proprietary data comm cable that plugs into a USB port on your system and into the data comm port on the UPS. That way the UPS can communicate to the PC for things like shutting down, etc.

Its "only" purpose is to inform the user how much time there is before battery power shut off then?

if ur using the UPS for a compuer, i'd higly recommend you connect the USB to LAN cable to your compuer (USB on computer; LAN on APC unit). then install the software that comes with the bundle. I believe it's called PowerChute. incase of power failure and you're not around, PowerChute will help shutdown your computer when there's like 5mins left (u can preset the time).

The software also tells you how full your battery is and the estimated time it'll be up when power fails. What's weird though is @ 100% battery charge, the software says 83min battery time on a 17" CRT + AMD2000+ 400W PSU. anyone else getting weird readings like that?

Aren't you all interested enough to find out how much time you really have?

It's the first thing that came to mind, disconnect the power cord and start the stop watch.

It would be nice if you posted your system specs and how much time you lasted without power. It was 24 seconds for me:

21" Nokia 445Xav monitor
AMD Athlon XP 2400+ mobile IQYHA 0402 SPMW
[185] FSB x 13 = 2405 MHz @ 1.80 Vcore with memory frequency at 100% [185 FSB] @ 2.90 Vdimm

Antec SX-835II case ; 380W Antec TruePower TP380
Four 80x25mm Case Fans + 1 Variable speed 80x25mm Fan YS-Tech FD1281259B-2F
Two 120 GB 7200RPM HDs
+ Power to Cable modem + Router
+ Power to 1 Telephone set.

Just a little FYI...Windows XP SP2 found the UPS and installed it's own "METER" and shutdown procedures (limits). Didn't even have to open up the CD envelope! :)

Bought this UPS online and picked up instore, same day the deal came out for $30 and out went the rebates very next day. Received an email from ODs rebate fulfillment center (www.teg-online.com) that the $20 rebate is valid. That was FAST!! now hope the $10 APC rebate comes through too !
