Scored! Thanks!

BTW, does everyone use the software that comes with it, or does it work fine without having an extra program running in the background?

Has anyone tried to submit their rebate online? staplesrebates.com doesn't seem to have this product listed.

sxr7171: The UPS works without the software. The software automatically shuts down your computer and saves all open files when the power starts running out. It also lets you configure some of the settings of the UPS.

At first I thought it was sold out, but the price tag for this unit was wrong ($59.99 I think) in the store where I got it. I asked about it and was still able to get it for $39.94 plus tax.

Thanks for info on using the software.

My local store had it for $59.99, but I talked to the manager who pulled it up on the website and told me I could have it for $39.94. She also printed out the rebate form. When I went to the checkout, it rang up at $39.94 anyway. Great deal!

Staples cancelled my Energizer UPS and said it was out of stock :|. But they shipped the first part of my order (Khypermedia CD-Rs and some erasers) for $1.01 since the coupon remained, so I make $10 after rebate.

Umm, yeah.. I picked this UPS on Tuesday but the SKU that is on my receipt is 731304118541. The rebate says its only for SKU 474046. The product is the same model, BE500U, except my box isn't the same pic as the one on the net. Mine doesn't show light indicators or a big switch on the top. Back-UPS ES 500 So yeah, does the rebate work for me? It didn't print at the register when I got it, just assumed they had a mistake in there system. If not, I'll just take it back tomorrow.

Thanks

seem like deal is dead. I can't find APC 500VA anywhere including searching using the SKU.

Something is very wrong with this rebate. The product doesn't appear on Staples website, neither does the rebate form ($30), the CSR at Staples rebate center can't find it, she referred me to rebatesHQ's website to get it (it's not there either) and in the last resort she told me to write Parago.com (and they don't have a record of it, either).

Anyone have similar experiences with this?

I had no problems finding the form. All of the info matches what I bought online.

If you're worried, go to a Staples B&M (or have a friend somewhere do it, if there is no Staples B&M near you) and buy the same item. If a rebate form prints from the register, you're good to go. Use that form and take back the item. The rebate forms from the registers are not specific to a single purchase; so you can legally/ethically use the register-printed rebate form for the UPS you bought online.

Feel better? :)

Here's the point; I did buy it at the B&M on May 21 and no form printed out, only the receipt. Today, they've removed the rebate form that was on Staples' website and they've removed the product offering, too, even though the period of purchase was until 5-24. Coupled with my former post and it would appear to be a problem, on that alone. The fulfillment center has no record of this rebate, either.

There are a lot of people who're going to be as concerned as I am if a denial of rebate comes in the mail 2 months from now.

I ordered the APC 500VA when this deal first appeared. My Staples order confirmation form shows "Item No. 474046" just like the rebate form.

"731304118541" is the UPC code. Says it right on the box.

I think Staples pulled the rebate links and this product off their website because they made a goof; no one at Staples or at Parago (their fulfillment house) or at rebatesHQ.com or on the staples rebate web section will acknowledge the $30 rebate. I know the link on this thread works, but unless you know the URL, it is not accessible by any of the CSRs at Staples...they just don't have it indexed anymore.

As they have it now, there will be 100s of us sending in these rebate forms to Miami and they'll get rejected, initially, because the fulfillment house has no record of this as a rebate.

The CSR at Staples said, just send it in and keep a copy...blah blah...and hopefully within 8 weeks they'll have this figured out. I suppose if there is an Anandtech-effect, Staples will get busy fixing the links and informing Parago/rebatesHQ to honor the rebate.

At this writing, they have no knowledge that it exists.

What the hell? I've got the rebate form printed out, which also specifically states the rebate can be registered online at www.staplesrebates.com, but it's NOT listed there (searched by company, rebate # and SKU) and the UPS and any link to the rebate form have been removed from the Staples website.

This stinks. I just sent them an inquiry from this page http://www.staplesrebates.com/clients/staples/rebates/email_us.jsp and I suggest everybody else do the same. I don't want to get screwed on this $30.

ALSO, can anybody confirm that the Staples order email can be used as the required "sales receipt"? In my package I got 2 pieces of paper detailing my order that specifically say "Not An Invoice" in big red letters on them. Doesn't anybody send a receipt anymore?

I didn't get in on this deal in time, but I did add the UPS to my "favorites list" before Staples pulled it off the website. Now when I go to my favorites list it says the UPS is a "discontinued item". Just trying to help out with some more info. Good luck getting all this to work out.

Looks like weve been had. Somebody posted a false rebate on a web site. Looks like the jokes on us. Or myself for running down to staples and buying one!

The rebate form was real.

I have a printout of the Staples Online Catalog page showing a $30 rebate valid from 5-19 to 5-24

If someone wants to host it LMK

Huh???

The rebate form is still available right on the Staples.com server
http://www.staples.com/Products/Rebates/05_24_03_apc474046.pdf

Unless you're saying that somebody got in and hacked the order page to show the discount and then added a fake pdf file, then I'd say you're off base.

Although I was wondering if anybody else noticed the spelling errors on the rebate form.
In one place it says: "APC Battey Back Up"
In 2 others it says : "APC Batter Backup"

I just got an email that said my rebate is being processed. So much for the fake rebate talk. Yoohoo, go staples!
