How do I overclock my __________?. (fill in the blank).
I know that answering something like this requires guidance, compassion, good will, and patience.
What usually happens is 27 doofuses chime in with "Set your _____ to _____."
Not really what the OP needs to hear, even though he doesn't know that yet.

I'd like to answer....
Google and read! Stop being a snivelling git. You're finally in an arena where your parents/teachers/boss can't spoon feed you anymore. Grow up, figure out what life is all about and how to survive on your own!

Well, the relief would be only temporary. Unfortunately, probably lasting less than the ban would.
So, I just don't answer. The OP, if he has the fortitude and the smarts, is going to figure it out on his own anyway, ....eventually. I've jumped in enough, on enough forums, to realize that, no matter what, 75% of the people will NEVER get it (how to overclock). They'll bump up the FSB by 30 and be clueless, but happy telling their friends they're "overclocked".

The other kind of post I have trouble with (and don't answer anymore either) is the one with the easy to find answer. If I can find the answer with Google in two or three clicks ...well so could the OP.

Are these best solutions?

That is absolutely NOT TRUE.

For some reason Denise, from Survivor China, comes to mind.

And upon giving in a little more though, I'm not sure you know what "apathy" is...

Billb2, why would we have all of these forums if people should google everything and find everything out themselves??? If you can post a quick question, and someone who knows can post a quick answer, what the hell is the problem?

To put it into non-forum-related perspective, I just got put on a project that consists of hundreds of thousands of lines of code. I was working on debugging an issue, and I couldn't figure out the source of the problem - so I posed a quick question to someone more experienced with the project, and his guidance (a 5 sentence email) allowed me to fix the bug in about 45 minutes. I could have spent three days searching through the code, only to eventually discover that the bug was related to obscure legacy support. I would have "learned to survive on my own", but wasted a whole lot of the company's time.

Sometimes, it's just more efficient to "waste" 5 seconds of someone else's time, rather than hours or days of your own. This is pretty simple, but I guess you're apathetic towards logic too, right?
