So due to my inability to correctly read directions while being distracted by a phone call, I overcooked some food in the microwave by a factor of almost three. I was still on the phone until about a minute before the timer ended.
When I walked into the kitchen there was white smoke billowing out of the microwave and filling up the room. I opened the microwave and a massive cloud emanated from the cavity. I ran through the apartment and opened windows in every room as high as possible, and opened the back patio door and waited outside for a few minutes.
I came back in when it cleared up a bit. I ran the smoldered food under cold tap water, bagged it and threw it down the trash chute. I left all those windows open as high as they could go for over an hour, then closed everything up for bedtime.
Tonight when I got back in, the place was still smelling of smoke. Not sure what the source of the smell is, or how to get rid of it - any ideas?
