Apartment Maintenance guy drives around a Ford F250 4 wheel drive.

it's a Ford F 250, Black, extended cab, 4 wheel drive with a ladder rack and of course ladders.

wonder if my rent is paying for that thing? i mean who needs a 4 WD, F 250 for apartment maintenance? i guess if he uses it to plow snow in the winter as the apartment complex does plow in the winter.

but wow, that's a lot of money and extra gas he used just to be able to plow roads 2 or 3 times a year.

and no, this is not a hate the SUV thread. well, mb it is kind of. 😉

Probably not your rent exclusively, and heres a thought: Maybe the guy works at other apartments and he bought the truck? Did you ever think of that? I dislike trucks/SUVs as much as the next person, but the fact is they are needed for certain things to get done.
 
Buddy of mine does HVAC, bought an Econoline 250 brand new for it. It's his only car and he definitely uses it. You'd be surprised just how much crap has to get moved around when working on a home/apartment. You maintenance guy probably has to haul the washers, driers, refrigerators, etc in that F250. Any landscape work at all pretty much requires a pickup, and if he needs to have the ability to plough as well, it's still cheaper to have one vehicle that can cover it all than to have two vehicles.

well the short answer is yes part of your rent is going to pay for it

we're looking for a brand new f250 quad cab with and 8 foot bed with work boxes on the sides for the same reason
and yes we do plow 😀

 
You should move, it's not fair that he's using his wage to buy what he wants. You need to take a stand and show these people this crap is unacceptable.

I think it was implied that it is a vehicle owned by the apartment complex for the maintenance people's use - and therefore bought and insured by the apt complex. Not his own personal vehicle.

I would think that a V6 Ranger or stripper F150 should be all they would need to haul appliances and other equipment, or do light plowing. Then again, I am not an apartment manager, and there could be things that I am not thinking of.
 
When I lived in apts they all had trucks because they plowed, moved equipment, hauled appliances, laid down salt, picked up garbage, yada yada yada.
