Apartment complex parking etiquettes. Or am I just too anal?

So I live in an apartment complex that consists of 8 apartments, and 10 parking spaces. Each person is gauranteed one space and the other 2 is first come first serve. I just recently moved in and the landlord said parking has never been a problem. From the first day I moved in, there was a car in my spot for the first 2 days. I had to make a call to the landlord to get it moved. It turns out it belongs to one of the oldest tenants here (oldest by him being here the longest). He really had no excuse because the landlord introduced me to him as the new tenant. So he KNOWS someone is moving in yet he still parked there.

Anyways so the first few days pass and everything was fine. Then when I start driving home from work or school, I'd see him in my spot again. Apparently he thinks it's OK to park in my spot as long as I'm not home. The first few times I'm cool with it because I'm new and I could park along the side streets if he needed that spot to conveniently fix or wash his car. Then come street cleaning day and he took my spot again. I almost could not find a spot to park my car to avoid the street sweeping. And starting EVERY weekend, he'd park his car in my spot bumping music (which is like RIGHT outside my bathroom window). So far it hasn't bothered me because I close my bathroom door but regardless, isn't he being a bit inconsiderate? The guy has THREE friggin cars. He already has his own space, and he is already taking the two extra space all to himself.

I don't really want to complain to the landlord because he's been here so long that everyone knows him well. I don't want to be hated on by everyone cuz I snitched on him.

When I lived in a townhome a few years back we all had our assigned garages in front of our homes. The management always told us to call their office if anyone had taken our spot so that they could have it towed. There were times I found an ignoramus parking in my garage, so I'd always leave a gentle note telling them to get the hell out. I never had a problem, but I wouldn't hesitate to have it towed if they stayed as long as your moronic neighbor has.

I'd leave him a note, talk to him, etc. If that fails, have it towed.

I like this idea. You're putting it blatently that you want to park in the damn spot that you're paying for. He's blatently disrespecting you, so why not?

Why would one person need 3 cars? Pretty inconsiderate for an apartment dweller with limited parking availability if you ask me.

is this spot specifically assigned to you, or is this just a spot thats closest to your apartment out of the 10 spots which 8 is gauranteed to any tenants out of the 8 apartments?

Yes it is assigned to me because I live in apartment A and the spot says A 🙂 And yeah it happens to be the spot closest to the complex but not THAT much to warrant his convienience of parking. I mean I should go complain to the landlord but I'm the kind of guy that doesn't want to start unnecessary "beef" if possible.

Talk to the dude.......... don't be rude about it......... just tell him that "spot A" is yours.

You said that when he took your spot you had to park out on the street, what was stopping you from taking his spot?

Simply having the three cars is not inconsiderate. Taking up the parking spaces is what is inconsiderate.

What does that matter? The residents probably don't know the dude either and couldn't care less. The landlord needs to know what an asshole this guy is anyway.

In fact, I bet he did this to the other residents when they first moved in too. He probably just gets in the habit of taking a space for whatever length of time an apartment is vacant, and once somebody moves in, just continues to park there to see what will happen.

Call him on his sh!t or he gets a free parking space at your expense. He knows the rules and is giving you the finger everytime he parks one of his fleet in your spot. Call the landlord and voice your displeasure, this is ridiculous that you should even have a second thought about doing this.

I don't know about you guys but 10 spaces to 8 apartments? I would not even consider living there...if you honestly believed parking is not a problem

.

Think about it, if even 2 of those apartments were a couple you'd be out of spaces. Yet alone Joe Dirt with three cars.

I'd tell the landlord you want you money back for any fees and to be released from the lease. I'd also beat the crap out of this guy parking in my space esp having asked nicely already....you saying he parks their only when you are not home is an oxymoron 😉....if you're in the space you're in the space.

Come back when you have pics of him knocked out. 🙂

If you landlord had a brain he would have numbered the spots the same as the apt.You can do all kinds of things, move, ect.I would park where ever and be thankfull i had the good health to walk from any spot .
