Aopen P3: DX34R-U

Anyone know anything about this board? I'm looking to replace an ailing VP6... I'm wondering if this is any better..

Hey what a coincidence, I spent about an hour checking the Aopen website last night looking for more information about this board, since it looks pretty sweet and is selling rather cheaply from a couple vendors.

I decided not to take a chance on it. From what I could gather, and this involves a little bit of assumption on my part, the board was released for only a couple months then was quickly discontinued and replaced with other models. I don't know why, all I know is that information about this board is damned sparse on the Aopen website.

There are only two bios releases for it, none recent, there is no comprehensive CPU support list available. There are some hardware test reports, but extensive OS validation was not done for this board as it was for other workstation/server boards. If it was done, Aopen doesn't show any info.

Searching the Aopen forums turned up three posts, two of which were problems to which no resolution was reported. I've had enough experience with buying discontinued boards for which there seems to be scant info and little on-going support that I'm no longer willing to take a chance unless there is already an adequate user base out there who uses the board and can confirm their experiences.

Guess it dont look too good .... how much do you know of this board?

I know nothing about that board except for what is provided by MSI. It has an advantage, I think, in that it seems to be a "current" model, not one that has been discontinued.
