aopen nforce3 150 board, $29.99 for st. pats, $39.99 other days

Problem with this board is, if you run above 250 mhz fsb, the usb ports will burn out. Ive gone through 3 of them up until jan.

3 already, didn't you learn your lesson yet? 😉

Nice price, but too bad it's mATX.

Problem with overclocking is you're running the board out of spec. This is why manufacturers don't support a motherboard that's been overclocked.

For a board run according to specs, this is a great deal. Nice find OP.

wow at that ridiculously low price, its so tempting to buy .... so tempting but i know its just more junk in my room.

Typically any motherboard in this pricerange people are not buying to overclock, they're buying it to upgrade their mom's pos PII

VERY tempting, i've been wanting to go with a better board for my HTPC (current one allows no sleep of any kind, and is socket A) and I think this might be tempting enough...

🙂 Thanks OP,
I ordered one plus a few other things to combine shipping.

Haven't you found that there's little to no savings from newegg when "combining shipping"? Unless you're going for upgraded shipping (2-day or overnight), I've found that they just add their special "FedEx Saver" rates together for each item you buy.

So, for example, $4.33 might be a bargain for shipping if you just get one item, but if you get 5 small items and they all have $3.99 to $4.99 shipping, you could end up overpaying for delivery.

I've got this board in an HTPC I built last year. It does have one burnt out USB header..Hmmm.

I grabbed another one! Thanks for the heads~up hans007.

Anyone else having problems with the geeks site not loading pages fully?

Nice deal! 🙂

That doesn't make a lot of sense to me - what does the FSB freq have to do with the amount of current that your USB peripherals draw? I would take a look at what you are plugging into those ports, and consider using an external, self-powered USB hub for those devices instead.

If you are suggesting that the USB controller in the chipset itself is burning up, due to too-high FSB freq, that doesn't make sense either. If it were overheating enough to cause damage, you would likely see issues with other southbridge-connected peripherals too, including the normal PCI bus.

I think that you either simply overloaded the USB ports, or static-zapped them myself.

seems there are like 8 more, get them while they are hot. i am not getting one, had to pullmyself away a few times now.

Just got notice that it was shipped!

They are sold out, although I imagine they will "restock" again. They seem to have plenty of these (it's still "in stock" for $39.99) and they just need to allocate more for the sale price.

  Who said that I ordered from Newegg.
I ordered from Geeks and got the MB, 2 floppy drives, 4 modems, and 300 feet of Cat5 cable for $11 shipping, The shipping on the MB alone would have been $8. 😎 😉
