AOpen FM56-PM "Region Selection" fails!

I am trying to install an AOpen FM56-PM PCI modem. After several failed attempts, I finally got it working in Device manager (no yellow marks). However, now when I try to dial, a window asking me to select the region that I am in is displayed. However, there are no choices in the list box, and there is no way to cancel, exit, or otherwise close the window. I have to ctrl-alt-del to shut down just to get rid of it.

Is there any way to remedy this, or to somehow make the modem think we have already selected a region, as in, editing an ini file or something? thanx...

BTW, what chipset does that modem of yours use? If it's Conexant, you can get pretty decent and rock solid generic drivers for all OSes at the Conexant site that allow you to select any country/region you want. Even if you don't select it, it will work just fine anyways.
