The lite-on is 125 bucks. I'm not sure of the quality of it though. Can anyone vouch for a lite-on?
Are plextor's worth the extra cost?

I've got one and it works like a dream. Works with clonecd, has burnproof. I know there's about 5 others with the liteon drive and about 10 or more bought the drive so they'll be getting it soon.

I can vouch for the Aopen...great drive it is based on the ricoh 7120a drive, Ricoh doesn't use burn proof either and has just come out w/ technology called just-link in their 9120 model...Doesn't have burn-proof but the 4meg buffer seems to be plenty...I have burned 30 plus cd-rs now and not one coaster, all at 12x while doing other apps...It is cd-clone capable, I have used it already. Comes with Nero 5.0 which is great software.

If Lite-on has good reviews by users I would think it is a better deal since it does have burn-proof for those who need it for peace of mind.

warm deal I guess. I've seen prices like around $200cdn for this drive. which is equivilent to ~$130 usd.
some people have problems with the OS identifying the aopen drive, but most people are very happy with it.

Too hasty to post. Stock for Lite-on is zero. Sorry, dis-regard my earlier post.

For all the Canadians out there, they had it at my local Costco in Mtl. for CAN$200+tax

I've had mine for about a month now and no coasters yet, it does exactly what i bought it for: 12x burns with no coasters.

The only downside is that it is noisy when it reads, but i have a second drive so it doesn't bother me too much.

I recommend this drive to anyone who wants a good burner for a low price

FYI, beware there is a version of this drive with just-link and one without. I have the one without and have had no problems but this could be a concern if you have a slow rig
