I hate AOL as much as anyone here does these days, but looking upon this really brought back some old memories.
Back before they became greedy bastards that try to take over the world! Anyone else here go this far back?

AOL from yore! beware, the link is a tad slow.

EDIT:

Found another link that goes WAAAY back into AOL history. Its a short read.

Ancient AOL?

Hrmmm....never saw that version of AOL. I was using AOL back then, but I had a Mac not a PC at the time.

LOL.

Ah but AOL today is much better! Better email, better instant messaging, easier access to the stuff *you* want. And it's the nation's #1 internet service provider.

eww. Reminds me of my first time on the "internet". I think I used like Earthlink or something and all it had was a few gopher (gov't) pages and some small text pages. It was pretty useless, but it was a free trial so I didn't mind too much. Yea, I remember the good old 2400 baud modems.

When AOL first appeared on the scene, I thought it was the coolest thing ever -- a graphical, nation-wide BBS.

Then they started to send the disks out for free trials, and they've never been the same since... <sigh>
