I copied everything off a Windows XP install to an external drive. The customer had saved some emails in folders she made using AOL 9.0 Security Edition.
I then wiped the drive, did a clean Windows XP install then re-installed AOL 9.0 Optimized (didn't want to put in the Security Edition since she is dropping AOL soon and it was conflicting with other security software).
I am looking to find those old folders somewhere in the data I saved. I even went so far as to create a new folder in her email in the new install with a unique name, hoping if I searched for it, then I would see the location and then know where AOL was saving mail. I can't find that folder or file searching by the name.
Does anyone know where the AOL saved folders on AOL 9.0 are? Or at least the file extension or folder name so I can find them in the saved data?
If you need any more info to help me, just ask.
Thanks in advance.

Not sure about AOL ver 9.0 ... but I remember from awhile back ver 6,7,8 most of the data and info were saved in the actual screename (its packaged into one file or folder that contains all the user settings etc...)... do a screen name search .. it should point to a few folders and a few files w/ whatever extensions (i forgot) but all u have to do is replicate those folder trees and all the emails would be there when the account is open.

goodluck

oh yeah:

One method

Two method

Ur friend google

also it doesnt hurt to call AOL... i think thats how i found out how to do it way before google.

I believe what you're looking for is the PFC which should be located in: Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AOL\D_AOL 9.0\organize

Unless the user specifies otherwise, by default, all AOL mail is stored on the AOL server.

nah... the op said the email's are saved to the email saved folders (file cabinet?) in the aol so the mails are now saved to the pfc file.
