How long was the longest you've ever been on hold if you had to call them? I recently had a problem and I wanted to talk to a AOL Rep. I called and I was on hold for well over half an hour. I hung up, called back again, again well over half an hour. What was the longest? A friend of mine said that it doesn't take that long usually to get in touch with someone.

About 5 minutes I would say, about a year ago (my lame sister gave her password to someone who then started using her account to send pr0n emails - had to call up to reset the account)...

as much as i hate aol, that's nothing. i called linksys support and got an estimated wait time of 5+ hours. *click*. jesus.

while i'm here, i'm just curious. why do people use aol? i've heard more complaints about it than any other isp (though this maybe due to superior subsciber numbers) and it isn't exactly cheap. i'm just curious, don't mean to step on anybody's toes or anything.

To be fair, you extended your ordeal by hanging up and calling back.

All callcenters work the same way; calls are answered (in each queue) in the order they are received. By hanging up and calling back, you moved from near the beginning of the queue to the very end, and drastically extended the amount of time you spent on hold. 30 minute hold times should be unacceptable, but you made your situation worse through your own impatience.

As long as you hear hold music (what else is it there for?), don't hang up!.

Earthlink I had to wait for over an hour. They never solved my problem, they told me to call back next day, and the next. Earthlink sucks.
