AOL got me :( I just don't have the balls to cancel :(

Ok so I sign up at the beginning of December thinking I needed it to access a school newsgroup. I was a newsgroup newbie back then 🙁 Little did I know, I couldn't access the newsgroup even with aol, I had to go through the school's server ARGH 🙁 So aol gives me 1000 hours... I try to cancel on the 15th of january and they give me a free month... Can't resist free right? And then february 16 rolls around... I try to cancel and they give me FIVE MONTHS FREE!!! So now my cancellation date is July 15. If I even forget to call in and cancel it while they charge my CC, they win 🙁 Little did they know I won't forget!

Do you guys think I can get a whole year of free internet access? hint hint 🙂
 
man, just ride with it.. if they want to give you free service.. then let them! Just make sure you stay on top of it and don't forget to call them when the free months are over. Heck, I had my DSL installed over a year ago, when they installed it something was messed up and I was only getting a max of 20 k/s, so they weren't charging me until they fixed it a few months later.. and they fixed it, and i'm getting regular DSL speeds now, but they forgot to start billing me again, so I've had it free for over a year now.

I believe it. When I cancelled my AOL they gave me 4 free months.
 
I know a person who kept cancelling, but AOL kept giving her free months over and over until she accumulated THREE YEARS worth of free AOL. Finally, they just cancelled it after all 😀

Damn...I don't think they gave my parents *anything* when they switched to MSN (which they got free for a couple years with a computer)

Did they really give you 5 months?

I got the run around like that too. Except they just kept giving me a month free every time I called. But the last time after the new year, I called, and they just cancelled my account.

I would keep keeping the account if they gave me 5 months LOL.
