last time i dealt with AOL was back in AOL 3.0 where they booted me for being in "warez" chans one to many times.
I had verzion dsl for about a year til i moved :-( now im stuck on 56k... going from dsl to 56k do you know how that feels OMG!!! im use to this crappy speed now, took me 2 weeks LOL. i would glady get AOL DSL over 56k
If I had no other available high speed ISP, I would definitely go with AOL DSL. I've had AOL for years now and never have had a problem with them, and now that I have DSL(tho not AOL DSL) I could NEVER go back to dialup.
i had aol plus (AOL DSL) about 2 years ago when it just got out of beta and man did it suck. i had problems connecting and staying on. tech support sucked @ss. they had me try the same thing over and over. i must have re-installed drivers and software about 30 times. i kid you not. i thell them i've done it before and they're like are you sure. i repeat the steps and they said it was correct. those guys didn;t know what was going on. i figured it out and fixed the problem myself. then a few weeks down the line, my connection started to slow down to the point where i might have as well been on dial up. they sent a truck roll to my house and everything tested fine. i had a "very clean" line and was told it must be on AOLs end. They use to have a message board for users to post and about 97% of it were horror stories. i finally got hold of a tech who told me the truth. he said that the problems i've been having were on AOLs side and were being worked on. he told me things should be back to normal in about a week. he was right, but it started to happen again and i just said screw this. dropped aol dsl and went with covad. my initial connection was a consistent 550 down and about 100 up on covad, but i have a friend that works in the NOC and i've been boosted to 1300 down and 680 up and i'm 12,000 ft from my CO.
