Aol disconnecting

I'm currently suffering an annoying occurance with my aol broadband connection. It's a usb dsl modem (BT Voyager 105) but I'm not sure where the problem lies. The service disconnects after a few minutes of being idle. If i'm browsing then it is fine, but as I say, if it's downloading and I leave it for 5 minutes or even read an article or make a forum reply then it disconnects. More so annoying when I'm writing emails and it disconnects and I lose everything. I've unchecked "allow this service to switched off to save power" option for the modem and there is no connections for the service. I also get a "limited or no connectivity" message for the connection. I've tried a windows fix and an aol fix for the connectivity problem, but they have cured none of the problems. Does anyone have any idea how I can stop this annoying problem.

P.s. I've had this before and got rid of it (by fluke I think) so I don't think it is a hardware problem

Thanks

My self anyways I would dump that usb modem. Then get a dsl modem that plugs in a NIC that is in the computer. I never used a usb dsl modem so I dont know how well they work. But from what I did read on the subject they dont work very well.

I have 5000/640 dsl broadband which is through Sprint. Just like a couple months back I bought a old dsl modem on ebay for 1 dollar. The modem is just little older model compare to the one sprint gave me. I bought the older model for testing and to have a backup laying around.
