If you have AOL now you can change your BYOA for 9.95 instead of 14.95 listed under "billing"

also they will offer you 3 month free when you change your plan to BYOA ..

this only applies for Broadband~

YOU MUST CALL CSR

ONLINE CSR WONT BE ANY HELP

I still haven't gotten around to calling them. I really should........

yes i searched it..

that deal is apparently over.. and replaced with the one i'm showing now~

contents:
Get AOL + highspeed cable for $44.95 / month.
Also get AOL + highspeed cable for $22.95 for 6 months.

*note: first post n00b*

i called AOL (888-265-8008) and they said to me that the 3 month promotion was over, now they are only offering 2 months free.

the $14.95 price cut to $9.95 has its reasons.
with the 14.95 deal you get 2 hrs of DIALUP for free (just in case i suppose). with the 9.95 plan you get 0 hrs DIALUP.

All this is irrelevant. The relevant info starts here, the AOL personel was super cool and gave me excess info:

1) AOL and TIME-WARNER is having some promotion -- if you get TIME-WARNER high-speed cable + AOL at the same time, it will cost you $44.95/month. (Its like the normal $22.95 for AOL but they say since you have AOL already we'll rip you off a little less with our cable bills and charge you $22.)
NOTE1: TW cable is not the same as road-runner. If you are currently with road-runner (as I am) you may switch to time-warner high-speed cable and they will install for free.
NOTE2: I am currently paying $44.95 for road-runner + $9.95 for AOL = $55.00+

2) AOL is also doing a special promotion with GATEWAY. they will provide high-speed internet + AOL service for $22.95 for 6 months. Then after that its back to whatever you were using before. You will need to call gateway or go into a gateway store to sign up for this deal.

if you are currently getting ripped off by AOL I would suggest you look into these 2 options.

I actually called AOL like a week or two ago and am on the $7.95 BYOA + $15.95 DSL + $2.18 taxes service, with two months of BYOA free. I used to be on the $23.95 + $15.95 DSL + $2.18 taxes service before then. Just call AOL and tell them you want BYOA. This is for my dad's store, btw, so this is an excellent price for DSL in a business. It's actually cheaper than if I did it with anyone else, because AOL does not notice that it's a business.

At home I use Optimum Online cable access, which is much faster and costs $29.95, if you have cable.

The only DSL pricing plan that I see on AOL is for $31.05, and in order to get that you must be on their $23.90 unlimted plan, so that is one nice deal you got set up there: Getting the DSL for $15.95 and being allowed to switch to BYOA plan at the price of $7.95. I have that same BYOA deal for $7.95 but on a dial up connnection and when I looked at the availability of their DSL in my area I get a message saying that i need to change my pricing plan from BYOA to the standard plan in order to aquire it.

$3.50/mo.

I had AOL for several years until I got DSL. 😱 At that point, I switched to their bring your own access plan just because I was heavily invested in the email address (business cards with it printed, etc.), but was using no other AOL services whatsoever (why would you?). I had that for a year at around $15 a mo. Finally, I decided "it was time," called up aol's canceling department (which doubles as sales, it seems...They do not want to let you go). Well, the guy asks why I'm cancelling, and I muttered something about proprietary blah blah blah, and also that $15/mo for email only was ludicrous. He said something like "oh yeah, that is expensive," then told me about the service they offer (but don't bother telling anybody about) for that situation. Costs $3.50/mo. Email only & BYOA (I don't know if IM-ing qualifies as an extra service, but I didn't really care, either). I ended up telling him 'no' all the same (possibly out of spite for a year of 400% costs), but have talked to a lot of people using aol because they don't want to lose the email address. Spread the word..

Note: May have been either $3.95 or $3.00, I don't recall, but it's very close.
Thought I'd bring that up again 🙂

I have DSL for this low because I have been "grandfathered," as they say in the DSLReports forums. I have the old rate because I have used AOL Plus since AOL was $21.95, for several years now.

As for the BYOA thing, I am surprised I got away with it. It's probably not changed, but I will see when the next bill comes. I called them several times until I talked to someone who actually changed it. Several people over at DSLReports tried it, and so did I. Now I will see if it was truly changed when the next bill comes.
