AoC and Omar declare Bolivia to be a coup...

So apparently both Alexandria O Cortez and Ilhan Omar are proclaiming that the situation in Bolivia is a coup.

Regardless of the facts of an audit showing election fraud....

Regardless of the facts showing questionable time lapses in the results magically changing overnight....

Yet stupidity still reigns supreme. Can you get anymore partisan than this shit? Just because Bolivia was under the socialism party means everything was a coup. Yeah sorry, but folks need mental help if you stand by people at this peak level of stupidity.

Below is the quickest article I could find, so I have no idea if this is a left or right leaning site.

When the military forces a civilian govt to step down, that's a coup, regardless of the stated reasons. All hail the new interim right wing President-

We'll see how interim it really is.

Look up the meaning of the word "coup"

"A coup d'état (/ˌkuː deɪˈtɑː/ (About this soundlisten); French: [ku deta]), also known by its German name putsch (/pʊtʃ/), or simply as a coup, is the overthrow of an existing government by non-democratic means; typically, it is an illegal, unconstitutional seizure of power by a dictator, the military, or a political faction "

I think when you made a statement about stupidity reigning supreme, you were surely referring to yourself.

Can you tell us, without ranting, distracting, or obfuscating (hint: use as few words as possible and be articulate) why it is NOT a coup?

Yeah, like you'd ever get a cogent, coherent response to your request......you'll get about the same when I ask for proof/peer reviewed vis a vis climate change denial from certain members.....it'll never happen, just the usual nonsense rantings and dancing around questions asked.

We did, the OP of that thread f’d it up by using arguements as weak as the OP of this thread has done just from the opposite political viewpoint.

We still haven’t had a thread about the situation in Bolivia that actually addresses the complexity of the facts on the ground.

The military has returned power to civilian control more often than Trump has complied with the Constitutional authority of Congress concerning a very legal impeachment inquiry.

Yea she so dumb...

I can understand hating on someone like Trump he is vile and too stupid to crime properly... I dont see AOCs faulty character traits here. Military equals coup. Right wing media is teaching you guys to hate. Thats so sad.
The tweet in your post contradicts itself pretty blatantly.

"The people of Bolivia deserve free, fair, and peaceful elections - not violent seizures of power."

The attempt at free/fair/peaceful elections had already failed disastrously. What would AoC suggest to rectify that situation?

How "violent" was it? Seemed to be as non-violent as anyone could possibly expect.

Folks here are hilarious.

Number 1 - The military didn't revolt. The people revolted.

#1 - Current administration made questionable legislation to allow themselves to re-elect past the term limits and ignore the constitution.
#2 - Election fraud occurred.
#3 - Organization of American State audit came through and confirmed - yeap, there was election fraud
#4 - People revolted, for obvious reasons. Note: That is THE PEOPLE. Not "A dictator, the military, or a political faction"
#5 - The leader resigned, along with the next 4+ that were up for the position.

And you want to sit here and act like this is an organized military takeover of the government? Bwahaha, you just let AoC spoon feed you your thoughts in life? Do you understand what countries are supporting Bolivia's administration here? Fucking Venezuela. Christ, apparently if Nicolas Maduro resigned tomorrow after running the country into the ground you would still call it a coup eh?

Dude, the president resigned because the military told them to. It’s perfectly reasonable to call that a coup. Once again you’re calling people dumb for saying correct things, haha.

The thing is that coups aren’t inherently bad! If the military ousted Maduro that would surely be a coup but if they did so to remove a repressive dictator it could be a good thing, similar to some cases in Africa.

I think you and I have different values for "contradiction".

Your argument : Threat of violence != violence -> non actualized threat of violence -> peaceful.

I get it, its the same reason Trump is innocent in the Ukraine ordeal. Right? He wanted to do it, tried to do it, fumbled the robbery, therefor not go to jail.

Right?

In other news, as your mom cant fly, she is probably a stone.

(edit : before anyone have a seizure over the line above and hits "report", look it up, it has foundation in history of deduction).

Point to one poster in this thread how is "supporting Bolivia's administration". We're just correcting you calling other people dumb for using the correct definition of what a coup is. Maduro needs to go, but if the military told him to resign and he did then it would be a coup as well.

Unless and until the authorities (military/police/senate) announce new elections, the coup is a coup. I think their Senate leader just declared herself President (according to laws of succession) despite not having the quorum present to approve it. Would probably be in the best interest of the country to announce elections within 90 days.

What do you mean "People" revolted? Which people? The ones in uniform?

Reports say he resigned after "pressure from the army". Sounds like a coup to me.

Incidentally, coups aren't necessarily always seen as bad. They are sometimes popular. Lots of countries have had constant coups because their political classes are so corrupt that people can see the military as an improvement. (Not an optimal solution when it keeps happening, of course)
