Anyway to track down this IC?

So I bought a Schwinn 420 elliptical from someone for $400. They gave me the wrong power supply for it and it fried the console. The guy gave me $120 back since that's the cost of replacing the console, but I was hoping i could fix it myself. It looks like an IC was fried and is no longer identifiable because the print was burnt off.

Here is a PIC

I've spent the last hour trying to find something with the last few numbers of 925 but I haven't found anything. Is there any hope of fixing this?

edit: It looks like the first few numbers might contain 790?

Weltrend Semiconductor
Package is SO8
Their website has a treadmill picture & associated components - did you try there?

wait, i didn't read that he put the wrong power supply on the console. that whole thing might be fucked if it applied the wrong voltage to all the ICs. that component may be the only one with a visual sign of damage.

Yeah, not a lot of info though and none of the part numbers seemed to match. If one of those are the right thing though, I don't know where I'd be able to order it.

If you're right about the *790 it could be a WT7901 power motor driver. The 925 could be just a date code or something. It's a power mosfet driver and I've seen those explode before like your picture.

If you could find a datasheet for it you could try to find a compatible part from International Rectifier / STMicro / most of the big semiconductor mfrs.

Contact the manufacturer directly?

I ended up buying a new console off ebay for half the price. I can confirm that the part is indeed WT7901. The 925 must be a date code because this one says 835. It also says J247B6 at the bottom.

I'd still like to fix this one to recoup the money.

Try emailing the Santa Clara contact person on their Contacts page and see if they'll send you a sample/sell you a single unit or at the very least ask for a datasheet. It's a basic MOSFET driver IC so you may be able to find an alternate from TI/IRF/Etc. It may actually be a knockoff/licence/remark of one of their products.
