Anyway to remove the picture from Start bar?

I don't know what "picture" you're talking about, but you can disable the Quick Launch items (the icons just to the right of the Start button) by right-clicking the Start bar, selecting "Properties," and unchecking "Show Quick Launch."

I do. And I realized I've posted this in the wrong forum.

Control Panel > User Accounts > Click on username > Change my picture

No dice.

Lies, I followed those exact steps.

Edit - Removing it may be possible with an explorer or registry hack. Otherwise, just use Classic Start Menu.

If you mean the windows logo, you have to edit explorer.exe (IIRC) using resource hacker. You could copy it, edit that, and edit registry to use the alternative explorer file (for testing purposes).

Probably how-to's and such on the subject, in fact I know there was because I did that once.

If it's some other picture than I don't know.

To remove the picture, I think you need to disable Fast User Switching (and maybe something else). I know it sounds convoluted, but it does work if you don't mind giving up the other crap too.

disable fast user switching / welcome screen

then there is none of that gay puffy shite, just a normal win2k style login.
