I think this is video related-
Is there any DVD-RAM drive i could buy that allows you to make DVDs that are accepted in at least normal computer DVD players? I'm an independant film producer and I'd like to try to put a few copies of my work on DVD for my pickier clientel!
Thanks!

Nope, none of the current formats are compatible with currect standalone players. You should be able to get one next year for a couple thousand.

well, DVD-R (write once) discs work on some players, the DVD-R recorders cost several thousand, or is it $1000? the price on these recorder WON'T come down at all.

i'd just stick to CDRs and whatnot for now.

If you have short movies, shorter than 15 min, you can make a miniDVD and burn it on a CD-R. It will play on the computer, but not many standalone players except them.

SCSI DVD-R burner for $200????? You gotta be joking, right? Give us a pointer before we can believe that. The cheapest I have seen is the Pioneer one that runs for about $5k and the next generation ones will still run near $1k.
