Anyway to make a PC hibernate/standby and wake up at a certain time each day?

Rather than keep my server on 24/7, since i'm only using it for orb streaming at the moment, is there a way to make the server Hibernate (or standby) everyday at a specific time, then wake itself back up at a specific time as well... everyday?

One of my friends had this software called "intelligent wake up". not sure if it is still available or not, but it used to do the job right for him.
Every morning the PC would wake up on its own and had a couple programs running that he wanted and by the time he'd get to the PC he was ready to roll.

Now that I think of it I would love to have it too.
If anybody does find please report how to get it.

Oooooo, thanks for the software name. I searched it, didn't find it specifically, but did find this...

still looking

why not??
vista compatibility issue? or it because it doesn't send the computer in hibernation, it just revives it.

Also, what is APM enabled.

Well, i'm having trouble getting it set up to put it to sleep at a certain time.. it seems it wants to do almost a countdown from the current time, not a specific preset time.

actually, on second look.. that first app should work fine 🙂

thanks for the help!!!

quite a few bios's(?) support a turn on @ whatever time you want, then just put a shortcut to the programs in the startup folder and you are good to go very easily

Hmmm, I've been thinking about this myself for a little while as well. I usually use my PC to listen to music, whilst I hit the deck, but going on standby/hibernating mode is quite annoying, because a fairly bright led keeps blinking, which is rather annoying. Hopefully one of these applications is going to solve my problem.

If you're on Vista, you should be able to do this using built in Vista features.
First - Use the task scheduler to create a new task. Have it happen daily at some time you like. Have it do something simple like display a message.
Edit the task properties and under "Conditions" choose "Wake the Computer to run this task". Under General choose "Run whether user is logged in or not".
This should take care of the wake up half. To have it go to sleep, simply use the power settings option to sleep after the computer is idle for nn minutes where nn is the number of munutes after wake up you want it to go to sleep.

Mine pretty much completely powers down when hibernating. A friend of mine used to use his PC as an alarm clock; it'd wake up at a given time and blast music out of the speakers until he got out of bed and stopped it 😛.

Mine is almost completely powered down when hibernating, but the blue led on my p182 keeps blinking. The noise is non-existent, so I could keep it turned on, but that's a waste of power so I'd rather have it hibernate/shut off completely.
