Anyway to lock icon location when switching from 900p to 1080p resolutions?

At home, I use a 23" 1080p monitor with my laptop but at work i use my laptops 15.6" 900p monitor. I've noticed that when I sort the icons a certain way with one resolution, when I get home it'll get sorted sequentially when i plug my 23" monitor in. I make sure to try to use only the area that my 15.6" monitor would cover.

Is there anything I can do about this?
