hotwire has an extra savings section that has been cheaper than expedia's bargain offers

You're talking about a transcontinental flight. Normally, those are $300+ on a normal day 2 months in advance. Your best bet is to priceline or hotwire it a couple of days in advance and see what they're willing to do... Maybe even try the day you're wanting to fly....they may have an opening to fill.

Otherwise, you're out of luck. Keep in mind that you'll probably have a layover somewhere and if you get an extremely cheap ticket, you could be waiting in an airport for hours...

The cheapest I found was on expedia.com. $496 nonstop on Delta. Arrive 7/1, Leave 7/5

if you wanna try your luck you could go and wait at the ticket booth and keep asking if they have any last minute cancellations...doubt it will work but you never know, they might just get so fed up with you they'll throw you in the cargo hold and get you on your way.
