Anyway to fix this?

Hah. Sucks to be him, but I wouldn't say there's no way of recovery. Norton Utilities used to be able to undelete.

the question is does he deserve to have it fixed? 🙂

chances are he's going to have a hard time, though using some sort of undelete software may help for critical files.

Lol.. the funny thing is, a online person told him it would bring up a hacking software so he did it on his 49 gig filled up HD with MP3's and games and other crap. 😛

I think it's kind of cruel to fool someone into wiping their disk, but once you said he thought it was going to activate "hacking software" I just laughed. If he's that gullible, it will be a good educational experience for him.

fuggin ouch ... i think u can undelete stuff (with norton utils) ... but its a pain in the arse. after it undeletes, all ur data will be unorganized and un-named. i saw my boss go through the process after another co-worker accidentally ghosted a system before backing up the hard drive. there are companies that will do the undelete for u, but at a pretty penny! look in the back of pc world or pc magazine. i think i saw many ads there.

find a copy of ontrack easy recovery 5.0

it'll fix him right up... assuming he hasn't touched the hd since then.. if not he's a dumbass.
