Anyway to fix this ?

Need some surgery

I went to two plastic surgeons already and they said that nothing can be done, I don't believe them though, what do you guys think ?

Basically I chopped my pointer finger off right down the middle, I had it sewn back on but the finger nail is now in two pieces and is growing upward in the middle on both sides.

Ouch. Maybe having the whole nail removed so it could grow out as one piece again, but if the surgeons say "no" you're probably SOL.

At least you still have a mostly-intact finger.

While working on a Land Cruiser at a Toyota dealership, the used car salesman came into my workbay and slapped me on the back, my hand hit the fan and chopped off my finger.

(this happened 12 years ago)

Trust me when I tell you that you don't want to see the rest of my hand(s).

I don't think so, you would somehow have to remove the part that's not growing a nail and replace it with one that is.

Yikes!

Actually, I would like to see the rest of your hand(s).

Damn...use soap next time you wash your hands!

That is clean, for me at least, I'm at my shop repairing automobiles you fool !

Trust me, you don't, I am missing a large knuckle and have two other fingers on the same hand that were sewn back on.

Your nailbed is damage... no chance of recovery.

That's what the two plastic surgeons said :(

I'll try but it's tough with this 2 MGP Fuji camera, it doesn't like taking close ups.

Damn! Suprised you didn't send the salesman's hand into the fan after you were done reaming him a new one.

Huh, no change in picture quality with Macro mode on

By the way, he was fired at the end of the day for being in the repair bay(s) and for causing the accident.

Unless it really bothers you, why worry? Seems to me that it sort of adds character. I have a brother who has the end of his finger totally cut off, and an uncle with about the same problem. Saved his, but it is more or less paralyzed. Both got it from a machine on a frozen food processing line. It was a pea hopper that dispensed peas into each dinner. To control portions, a blade quickly cuts through the frozen peas as they fall from the hopper. It sometimes got clogged and both (foolish they were) put their finger into the hopper to remove blockages, which immediately triggered the blade. BTW, have any of you purchased any frozen dinners that have peas with nubs of meat lately?

nail bed is damaged.

you could have your nailbed cauterized then you would not have a nail

When I first started in the Tool and Die trade I would have to say that 50% of the people in the shop had some digit missing. Pedestal grinders are the worst.

Couldn't they take the the nail or the whole end of a toe and put it there?

Hey, if they can do face transplants, mebe they can do a finger transplants? Maybe that cauterized thing would be a good idea, then just get a guard to go on a protect that finger tip.

Roger, how did you feel towards this guy afterward? Did he profusely apologize? Did he quit?? What happened?
