Anyway to create an up-to-date windows 7 install disk?

I've been having a slew of computer problems lately and ended up having to reinstall windows 7 twice. Each time involves about 3-4 hours of downloading patches, service packs, security fixes, updates, etc etc. Not to mention the lack of support for USB 3.0 made it very difficult since I don't have any more USB2.0 ports on my new motherboard.

So I'd like to make an up to date windows 7 disk with all the latest installed SP, security fixes and whatnot. Any ways of doing that?

Theres a process called slipstreaming that allows you to put updates in setups. google it.

SPs are already slipstreamed by Microsoft in the official Windows ISOs (which you can get for free).

For the other updates, you need to do it manually.

You can slipstream all updates (not just Service packs) pretty easily.
See post #8 HERE for info on how to get all updates for slip-steaming if you want to go that route.
I tried it when that thread was created and it worked really well.

I still prefer just keeping a clean image and every month or so restoring it and updating it as some of us describe doing in that thread.
But the slip-stream option works well also.

Wait, the OP said he had USB 3.0 now. Does that mean Windows 7 doesn't support USB 3.0 and you have to download a patch? Or is that included in SP1?

USB3.0 was not included in Win7 SP1 so you do have to install the drivers after the fact.

With Win8 it is included by default

As has already been suggested several times in this thread; use RT Se7en Lite to slipstream all your updates. You didin't list your hardware specs, but any USB 3.0 drivers (or any other drivers specific to your mobo) will come from the mobo manufacturer's download page, and can be slipstreamed just the same as any other driver or update.
