To remove the BIOS password, don't you just need to isolate the mobo from a power source, remove the battery, and flip a jumper?

He still needs a computer for school to type up sh!t and stuff...
Remove ethernet and modem PCI cards.
Install linux and set up a BIOS password so he can't boot from CD or floppy and uninstall it.
To the OP: is it your kid, or what? If so, then you can simply get rid of the wireless card - problem solved.

Who am I, local child welfare guy, I working on getting Mom and Dad to remove said computer, (a nice looking dell laptop btw), and a desktop. Ma and Pa seem willing to do this. However kid is all ready scheming around this. For the record, this kid is on a destructive path for himself, made on real big boo boo already and is setting himself up again. Yes I did take his porn away on tape and dvd

You are a fvcking tard. A typwriter and a library would work just fine especially if it is a troubled kid.
I'm sure the kid wants the PC around so bad so he can type up an English paper.

Okay now that it's somewhat clarified, you should try the said methods. Otherwise it seems that this kid may be fine without a computer.

The problem this kid is smarter then me when it comes to this, thats why I want to yank the computers. But he will lay his hands on one somehow (he is working on this already). Can the phone company bloc internet traffic or limit the liength of phone calls.

I thought this was a "mommy finds 17 year old son looking at swimsuit pics on teh intarweb, wants to give him just short of capital punishment" thread, hence my first reply. If it's really as serious as the OP makes it out to be, they may not only have to remove the computer, but also do something about wireless networks. IMHO, that should be the parents making sure he doesn't get ahold of a PDA with a wireless card (comprehendable that it might be sneakable into the house). Having the government order everyone in a certain-number-of-miles radius to shut down every wireless network seems a bit absurd, not to mention almost impossible in practice.Originally posted by: blurredvision
I say just let the kid look at the porn. It's inevitable.

BTW, if the neighbors' wireless is an issue, then short of parental responsibility (in other words, making sure he doesn't get any wireless cards in the house), getting the neighbors to switch to a wired network is the only way to work it out.
How old is the kid? He have to learn to be reponsible on his own because no one can make him.Originally posted by: todpod

Why can't the parents get the phone jack out of his room and just keep an eye on the kid? If it's really that serious, then get rid of the computers as well, but maybe I'm not understanding why the parents can't take a bit of responsibility in this as well...Originally posted by: todpod

Fixed to comply with my skewed sense of right.
Why don't you read RyanSengara's post? :roll:Originally posted by: QuitBanningMe

Might as well, it'll probably end up that way anyways

This really makes no sense OP. Firstly, if the parents are aware the kid has been viewing pr0n and are okay with it then let that be(assuming it's of the legal variety). All you can really do is make suggestions to the parents unless he is breaking the law.
