I was reinstalling XP and towards the end of the Reformat, around 90%, the reformat stoped and told me the disk was damage and that it was not able to isntall XP. So I rebooted and tried again, and same thing. I rebooted once more and did the quick reformat and XP installed. I'm posting this message from that very PC and so far everything is running great.

I am now worried though that the disk maybe at its end of life. I would say it is rougly two years old, but no more than three. But is there any way I can check the Disk Health with some program to see if there are any issues with it? I do plan on doing a new build in the coming months but would rather now spend the cash on a new Hard Drive now. Any help on this is greatly appreciated guys.

Thanks for the advice guys, I feel a bit stupid for not thinking of that.

I just ran the tests, and it came up with no errors. Is it safe to assume that the error that occured during the XP Reformat of the drive was just a false error?

You HDD is probably OK. Try again, the XP installer does some strange things sometimes.

The disk is probably ok. If it still messes up, try stock speed on the CPU. Too high an OC can cause disk errors.
