Anyway to change boot drive to a storage drive without formatting?

I got one hard drive now and will be getting another one. I want to use the new drive as the boot drive with the os on it and stuff. Use the drive I have now for storage. I got lots of anime on the
drive I got now. So I wanted to know if an OS was needed to be installed on the drive. Can you uninstall XP and keep the files?
If not I'll be burning a lot of CD's

If you make the new drive the master and the old drive the slave, you don't need to do anything except install the OS to the new drive. After that the old drive's letter will be D: and even though there is an OS on it the OS should be ignored.

To be 100% safe you can even set up your OS on the new drive with the cable not connected to the old drive, then power down and connect the old drive as a slave.

You can connect old drive(boot drive) as a slave to the new drive with no problems. That way you can drag and drop files over to new drive, then format old drive and use as storage.

Thanks trashman I wasn't thinking. I ended up installing the OS to the new drive. Copying the files over and then formatting the old drive and transfering the files back.
