I am the current high bidder for an item and the seller hasn't answered any of my questions or anything, so can i cancel my bid somehow? if i can't and i do win but i don't want it is there anyway to clear away the negative response i'll prolly get from him?

Yeah, go to "My Ebay", and under bidding/watching at the bottom, there's a link that says Retracting a Bid, click it, it will explain.

There is a way but I don't believe that your problem is a valid reason to cancel it. It would have probably been best to ask the questions BEFORE you bid. But, you can always get the sellers phone number via eBay if it is that important to you.

Doesn't matter. You're supposed to figure out what you're bidding on BEFORE you bid. Be more careful next time.
You can follow the instructions for retracting a bid above, but you're risking a negative feedback...

Yes it was the knighthood thing, the one i thought i had won wasn't the one i bid on, but after that last post showing me about it was fake is when i asked the question to the seller and he hasn't answered so that leads me to beleive that it is infact fake.

Yep you can retract a bid. The link a couple posts above makes that clear.

This isn't a simple case of buyer's remorse ("I don't think I can spend that much") You've got legitimate concerns and have had zero contact from the seller.

Even in the case of buyer's remorse, it's fine as long as you do it a reasonable amount of time before the auction's end

Actually, buyer's remorse isn't really a valid reason. If you get a case of it, you'll likely have to think up an excuse.

It's OK to retract a bid if...

You accidentally enter a wrong bid amount. For instance, you bid $99.50 instead of $9.95.
(If this occurs you will need to quickly re-enter the correct bid amount).
The description of an item you have bid on has changed significantly.
You cannot reach the seller. This means that you have tried calling the seller and his or her phone number doesn't work, or you have tried emailing a message to the seller and it comes back undeliverable.

It's NOT OK to retract a bid if...

You change your mind about the item.
You decide you can't really afford it.
You bid a little higher than you promised yourself you'd go.

To me, I still don't think its a valid reason. There are forums on eBay so you may get more/better advice from the experts. 🙂

so blueapple, your saying i should just suck it up and cash out 335 bucks for something that is very possibly a fake? and the seller won't answer any messages? yea thats not a valid reason to retract my bid...

Feedback can only be left for the winner/seller of an auction. Also, the last I checked, you could only retract the bid if there were more than 12 hours left in the auction. I do agree that you should ask your questions before placing a bid, though.

what is this place you are talking about, Ebay? Is this some new startup company or something? They must have sprung up overnight or something!

Remember, each time you do this, it goes on your record and people can see it under your "bid retraction history". If you have too many bid retraction history, sellers may refuse to conduct business with you. It is a good practice to ask questions before placing a bid. Everytime you retract bid, you're scarring your reputation.

hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. if its a bad seller and you can find it cheaper go ahead retract, but it will show up in your feedback how many retraction you have (bu t i doubt anybody actually cares).
