i heard it can physically damage your computer, but if it was that dangerous, why would such a feature exist??
 
It won't damage your PC. This feature stores everything in RAM on the HD, shuts down the system and next time you boot the PC the image is loaded into RAM from the HD, so basically it's just like you've never shut down the PC.
