8gb flash drives go for at least 15$. They are handy. I use my 4gb one all the time, (got it free from Newegg).

Thats a tough descision. I don't think the gtx 470 is as loud as the gtx 480 that everyone complains about.

well in that review you linked to it shows the standard gtx470 being louder than the gtx480 which makes no sense.

They have different coolers, for one. Doesn't the 480 have heatpipes sticking out whereas the 470 does not?

I think that was a Nvidia engineering sample. The others have board partners names.

The gtx 470 is not as loud as the gtx 480 and people say there is no need to run the fan 100%. 60/70% mabe.

You might want to wait for non reference designs but most will be more money.
That Palit looks nice though for 330$, but I havent seen it for sale yet.

I went ahead with the MSI gtx470. theres no telling when the Palit card will be out and the Galaxy card with the better cooler will cost $379. I certainly dont have that good feeling like I did when I ordered my overclocked gtx260 with a free game for $189 18 months ago though. at $329 the gtx470 is still a bit overpriced and the heat and fan noise are at least a small issue. I know the 5850 is a better card for the money but I just prefer Nvidia when possible.

That's interesting. Not only is there plenty of supply for 470's and 480's, but we're now seeing prices fall below retail! Who would have thought it would be nVidia cards pressuring pricing down? Everyone was assuming it would be ATI prices lower to be competitive.

I went to work today and everything was normal. I've come home to Bizzarro World. :D

It seems higher supply than demand.

It's as if people know that this generation of NV products are shit.

Yes when you cant get ahold of one, it is because nV cant get the boards out fast enough, because they suck and it was a soft launch.

When there are plenty available, it is because nobody wants them.

Oh, spin is so fun!

Sure, it has nothing to do with the fact that they suck up far too much power compared to ATI parts, are way too hot, and are twice as loud (yes, a 5dB difference is quite noticeable).

You know, sometimes people don't want to put up with so many aesthetic compromises for a few extra FPS. Not to mention invest in yet another PSU when what they have will work just fine with the competition's offerings. This generation of Green products simply have too many flaws to be ignored, and what a surprise, consumers haven't. $20 discounts from MSRP w/ free shipping, while the 5850 is still selling at over retail. Looks like a clue to me.

Edit: Oh, I see what happened here, Happy (the NV minister of propaganda) was cheerleading in yet another ATI thread.

There's a reason AMD is eating NVIDIA's discrete graphics card marketshare alive.

Anyway, I'd like to point out: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...081&CatId=3669

Reference design for $273 ($310 - 12% CB) would have been the better deal. Past the point now though.

Enjoy your new card, Toyota. It should be a solid upgrade for sure. Won't your E8500 be a bottleneck for it though? :p;

I would have went with the cheaper 5850 and enjoyed the more well rounded card, but that's just my opinion. $329 for a GTX470 isn't a bad deal. They seem like hit and miss overclockers though from what I've read. Some seem to go well past GTX480 performance, some don't seem to want to budge much at all. Anyway, good luck with it, it should be a good performer.
