I have to come to Cupertino in a couple days so HP can suck up to my company for a week (I'm from illinois). Looking for things that a die-hard geek would like. Any good computer stores in the area etc?

There's an "allegedly" nice club down in Cupertino near homestead, called Backbeat. I've never been to it, but one of my roommate's went before and said it was alright. I know, I know... what's a freaking club doing in the middle of the boonies. :)

there's valley fair in santa clara. recently remodeled and they added a ton of new stores.

yeah pretty much computer store wise there's fry's in sunnyvale and a comp USA in santa clara/sunnyvale.

if you want to go clubbing you have to go up to san francisco or else downtown san jose.

Doesn't HP also have large locations in Palo Alto and Mountain View?

not really a "geekish" thing to do, but in addition to above suggestions....
- in mcCarthy ranch (milpitas), there's borders, bestbuy, goodguys (electronic store), walmart, in-and-out (you gotta try it!!), etc.
- in milpitas near mcCarthy, there's the great mall of bay area
- in sunnyvale and san jose, there's fry's electronics

also, check out this link for other things to do

if you're feeling geek-ish, take a tour of apple (intersection of de-anza blvd and I-280), cisco (in milpitas), HP (obviously), etc.... lots of them are located nearby

and oh, backbeat is intersection of homestead and lawrence expressway... it's in santa clara/cupertino border (never been there--- i'm not a clubber)
