Anything significantly better than a 518?

I kinda want a new mouse. I've been using MX 518s for... like forever and just want something new. But at the same time I don't really want to go through the hassle of getting used to the speed and feel of a new mouse unless it's different enough to be worth the while.

Anyone move from a 518 to something else and just love it? Or have any suggestions? I was considering a lachesis or maybe RAT 7. I really want something with a few more buttons. I've remapped the DPI buttons to key strokes but even with having those I feel like I could really use one or two more.

Thoughts? Or should I just stick with the 518?

I have a RAT7 and it doesn't have any additional buttons that I can think of other than a forward and back browser button, and a "sniper" button. The Sniper button just changes the DPI to a lower value, so you can have more control when it is pressed. The other two sets of buttons are to change the DPI between 4 settings (user defined), and to change the mappings on the buttons.

I moved from a 518 to a G9x. I always thought it was a weird looking thing but the shape of it is perfect for a claw gripper like me. If you are a claw gripper the G9x is awesome, no lift off distance issues either like the ones that plague some other laser mice like having to lift the damn thing half a metre or some ridiculous distance before it stops tracking, looking at you microsoft HABU! junk!).

I hear you about more buttons though. Ive always wanted a button on the right of the mouse for my 4th finger to hit. I used to use that finger and corresponding button for grenades on my old mouse:

Best mouse ever made ever!
It just has lousy durability :(

I dont see why they just leave space on the other side of mice nowadays ive got a pinky and the other finger next to that doing nothing, there should be a button there.

lol I just looked on amazon and there are actually two people trying to sell USED mx510's (a 10 year old mouse) for $110. I guess it really is the best mouse! ;)

Love my MX510. Still kicking strong. I also have a backup MX518 that hasn't been used yet. Maybe look at ebay for MX518 or MX510.

I went MX 500 510 518 to a G500 and have been happy each time I upgraded although i did not find a huge difference between the 518 and the G500
