Thinking about maybe picking up a DS Lite once my Wii sells. Anything I need to know?

There are a few games that look cool, i just hope I don't run into the same problem as i did with my Wii.

It's probably Nintendo's worst system as far as manufacturing quality goes. Keep an eye out for cracked hinges and such before your warranty runs out.

Wii>DS

Really, If you got bored quickly with the Wii, I don't see the DS being much different. Sure, it has a better game library but it still has a non-standard control scheme and many of the same kind of games now found for the Wii.

I personally like the DS ALOT better than the Wii.

Games on the wii feel like the motion thing is being used just for the hell of it. Plus the novelty of it eventually wears off and you're stuck waving your arm around trying to play.

Games on a the DS have the perfect blend of interactivity and just old school button pressing imo. I'm thinking about picking up another one too.

I would get some type of case or pouch for it and screen protectors.

DS Lite rocks. Much better than PSP which I also have and has been collecting dust for nearly a year. May not be as sturdy as the original DS but the brightness and sleekness more than make up for it. Just treat it nicely and it will server you well.

thats what i thought i might run into. although, it seems to have more old school type games which i like better than some of the 3d crap for the wii.

If you enjoy the older style games I think you'll like the DS. New Super Mario Bros, Tetris, FF 3, and both Castlevainia games to name a few. Don't forget you can also play all of the GBA games. There are quite a few great titles from that system also.

If anything like me, I did not get into the DS until the lite came out and good titles in my mind started to appear. So it could be the same with you and the Wii, it just needs a bit of time before we can see great games from developers because they are still in the process of development.

I've been thinking about picking up a DS here the past couple of days also. I bought one when they first came out, but quickly sold it at the time because there was nothing coming out for the system for months. But now that it's been out a few years, I'm definitely interested in what I see.

yeah, there's tons of games out and tons more coming out. i have a sub to nintendo power and probably 80% of the mag is devoted to DS games.

The screen? Have you seen the movie Brazil? ;)

Did you look at a PSP? I'd be tempted to get one if I had a long commute or was still in college with waits between classes.

that's why I returned my PSP (besides the fact there were no games at the time) and what is keeping me from buying a DS. I also have a long commute but can't play anything due to driving. If I'm at home then I can play my 360 which I prefer.

I like the DS. Don't play it a whole lot, but there's an excellent selection of games.

Did you try an original DS? They're bigger.

no one sells them unless i go the used route, which i'd rather not do
