Anyplace in the U.S. without dangerous animals/snakes/insects/spiders ?

I was reading the spider bite thread and I killed my first black widow at my house today.

So I was wondering if there are any areas of the country where you don't have to worry about being bitten, stung, or otherwise attacked by some dangerous creature.

Here in Oregon, we have bears, cougars, rattlesnakes, black widows, and probably other things.

The desert states have things like scorpions and tarantulas.

Florida and Louisiana have alligators.

Is there anywhere in the U.S. without any dangerous creatures?
 
Southern Indiana. There isn't really anything here.

Oh, by the way, alligators are only going to mess with you if you go down and start rolling around in their nests and throwing rocks at them. They aren't going to ring your doorbell and eat you when you answer it.

umm maine

we have no poisonous snakes. only black flies and mosquitoes (harmless)

and ticks. nothing else scary.

Do illegal immigrants, ethnic gangs, and organized crime (Russian mob) count as dangerous creatures? 😕

Some northern states have Massasauga and Timber Rattlesnakes, whose habitat ranges into southern Canada. They are so endangered that they're protected in most states. Black widows haven't killed anyone in decades. They're not nearly as dangerous as believed.

There are perhaps a dozen deaths on average caused by venomous snake bites in the US out of several thousand venomous snake bites annually, usually because people don't leave well enough alone and increasingly because they 'saw the Crocodile Hunter do it'. More people die from bee stings (anaphylaxis).

There was a string of mountain lion attacks about a decade ago, haven't heard much lately. Nuisance bears are a problem in some areas, but I haven't heard of any recent attacks.

There is only one 'dangerous' species of scorpion in the US and tarantulas are mostly harmless unless one is hypersensitive to the venom.

Overall, the US doesn't have nearly as many dangerous critters as Australia.

I was just doing a search and don't remember the site, but it was Maine, Hawaii, and Alaska that don't have any poisonous spiders.
 
You don't need to worry about bears and cougers here in Oregon, really.

Black widows are hardly ever fatal anymore. Same with rattlesnakes. We don't have either in Northwestern Oregon, though.

people are killed every year in Wild Moosen attacks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you stay away from the garbage dump, then Alaska is the perfect place.

When I was growing up (48th & 8th), (149th & bdwy) there were much more than stampeding taxis..... heck even the dogs (westies) had a bent on attack..🙂
 
Yeah. The entire Northeast chunk of the country from New England, through New York and the Mid Atlantic, and out to the Great Lakes states is mostly free of truly dangerous creepy crawlies.
