I've only ever overclocked two systems - the first an AMD 586 P75 133 to 160.

This system is coming up to six years old now and still going strong. It runs Win98 no problem and for general/internet use it still performs well.

All my friends overclocked systems are performing flawlessly; Generally, I think as long as you keep the cpu temp some 5 degrees lower than the stated maximum your processor is going to have a reasonably healthy life span (perhaps 15 years instead of 20).

To prove me wrong, I ask has anyone out there held on to an overclocked system and found that it has died early?

I agree with your conclusions. I think that lifespan of o/c systems are really temperature dependent. As long as you are running them below the max recommended temp, you really shouldn't notice a difference in lifetime. As for the 15-20 years, I don't know that I'll have any system that I'll use for that long, actually don't know anyone using a system that old including hand-me-downs, so any decrease in lifespan wouldn't really be seen.

No they just keep on ticking. Here is my list so far that I have souped up for me or my family. As far as I know they all stil work though I have sold a few which I have no longer track of
My List P166@208, P166@200, P200@250, C266@450 +70% a lot of bullS-it has been said about this baby. ,C300A@450 C366@550, C566@850, C566@850, C600@900 ,Duron800@980 Finally left INTEL . Doubt I will be back.
I Like ABIT motherboards best. I have pushed to highest usable setting without stability issues including voltagetweaks and improved cooling. I have restarted one gazillion times and reset Bioses til jumpers got worn. Never fried or RMA:ed anything short of a dead Slot one adapter and fans .Windows has got screwed up a few times but that is rare too. Overklocked harddrives or bordeline memory is worst there.... Overclocking IS a free lunch and fun and problemsolving at the same time
