Anyones PC lock up when HL2 autosaves?

OCing my rig, but its stable in Doom 3 and CS:S

My PC will lock up, apparently during autosaves. I clocked down my CPU a bit, and the game won't lock up the PC permanently, just bog down the system for about 20 seconds not allowing me to move or anything..

P4 2.8 @ 3.3
1 Gig RAM
6800GT @ slightly over Ultra speeds, 66.81 nvidia drivers.

Probably a bad overclock. I've never had autosaves lock up my overclocked rig, and I've been playing all day.

People are having the same issue without overclocking CPU or GPU. Looks pretty widespread.

It is widespread. I have the same issues, though not necessarily a hard lock, rather a 3-5 second pause with stuttering sound. Completely annoying for a game that is supposed to keep you in the moment, but it can be tolerated until the first patch arrives. With so many having this problem (basically everyone), it should be a top priority.

Yeah, I have a feeling there's some "late nights" being put in with those responsible at Valve tonight. For their sake I hope they delayed the release party! 😛

I had this problem when I had the settings on a tad to high apperently. 1600x1200 with 2xAA, 8X AF. The game ran fine but when it would load it would sometimes just loop the sound and freeze for a couple seconds, then I could continue on my way.... Lowering it to 1152x864 w/ 4XAA and 8 X AF has since solved the problem.

Still, I think games are more sensitive to overclocking these days. Odd errors that pop up like that can often be attributed to overclocking.

With out a doubt people who have OCed systems should back it down a bit but keep the voltages up to see if thats the problem before they blame the software, atleast those with OC's way out there.
