Anyone working today?

I spent most of yesterday in bed, caught something.. Started caughing the night before, and woke up saturday feeling like shit.

Well although I couldn't sleep too much last night cause I slept most of yesterday, headache is mostly gone today. Still feel really weird and a bit of a cough.

Good thing Sundays are pretty chill here. Today will bump me up to 60 hours for the week. I figure I'd just be sitting around doing nothing at home anyway.

What are you all doing today? Anyone else at work? I actually offered to be here.

Been in the office for 2.5 hours now. Going to make sure the shift transition goes well, send out shift reports, and then hopefully take the rest of the day off.

I've worked every weekend for the past 4 months and will into the foreseeable future (unless I get fired, which I've been freaking out about lately)

I hate people who come into work sick.
And I hate it when people don't come into work because they have a headache or a hangover.

I coughed a couple times, that's not gonna stop me from working. I've worked in much worse circumstances.

Coughing is one way germs are spread. I'm not a big fan of people who come to work sick either.

Guess what? Breathing is the 2nd way germs spread.
Would you like to ban all people who breathe? How ya gonna get work done?

Touching things is 3rd. How ya gonna work without ever touching anything?

At some point you just have to tough it out and let your immune system get some experience, so it doesnt stay at first level and get murdered by orcs.

Sorry, I disagree. And you're taking your examples to an extreme, which doesn't help your argument. Yes the world is full of germs, and there's no way to avoid them all, but if you're sick, stay home. We send people home if they try to come to work sick. It's also a matter of common courtesy.

If you're no longer contagious and still coughing, fine, come on in.

It really depends on your work situation. If you don't come into contact with many people and make sure to wash your hands, etc...its not that big of a deal.

I work at a call center with 300+ people packed into a not very large building. They finally started kicking people out who were coming in with the flu. It was the one decision that management made that everyone agreed with.

Good point. Also, it depends on the field. If you work around people with compromised immune systems (hospital, for example), it's a bad idea to go in. Food service? How many people want someone who's sick preparing their food?

only if you call answering emails from a VP who won't take your advice about a virus "work"

he's bugging the shit outta me.

I was the only person here till a couple hours ago, and now there's only a handful of people here anyway. I don't have a fever or runny nose or anything..

I offered to do the OT today, and I need it. I wouldn't pass it up unless I REALLY had to. That, and what I'm in contact with 90% of the time I'm here is my work laptop which I take with me when I leave.
