I know most people hate the cable company, but is there anyone who works for them around here? I currently work for an IT company that does pretty much everything from installing servers to tech support to wiring and printer repair. I really enjoy wiring and going onsite(much better than sitting in a cubicle doing tech support).

I am going to be moving to a new town in a couple months and am looking for jobs. One I found was for a Tech at Comcast. Does anyone have any experience with this? I am curious as to how it works, how much the pay is, hours, ect.

Bump for new crowd. Someone must know something about this. I really just want to know how much they get payed. If its $10-15 an hour, screw it. But if they make $20-30, i'd really consider it. Area will be around San Luis Obispo, CA by the way.

I have a friend that is an installer for comcast. I guess you could call him a tech. I think he makes somewhere between $10-15/hr, works mon-sat, lots of hours. He gets some bene's too (medical, etc.) This is in MI, so maybe they pay techs more in Cali. I'm sure after you're there for awhile you'd get some raises but i doubt they start anybody at $20/hr.

I'd guess that they don't get paid too well, given the quality of the the last few installation techs I've encountered...

Yeah that is one of my concerns. I know you don't really even need more than a HS Diploma. I wonder if me having a CS Degree and some IT experience is too much for the position, or if it will allow me to skip being a rookie and start with some decent pay.
