I am applying for entry level job in San Jose and just wondering what to expect. I put my app+resume in on 10/31 and they still haven't called. I called them and I guess they are just super busy and the position is still open.

Never worked FOR them, but I think I've worked with them on jobs.

Can't speak to the delay in your application. I'd suspect that if they're actively hiring, you'd have heard from them by now. Have you been to the local hall?

On their website, I see a position for assistant estimator with the job requirements:

Educational and experience requirements include: 4 year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical/field training and/or related experience.

I'd think your journeyman status would qualify, but they MAY be looking specifically for an engineer.

I have a bachelors in technology management also, and have a six sigma green belt certification.
The HR lady said the position is still open, they are just really busy, some of their jobs have been on there since August.

Damn...hard to believe they're so busy they can't take time to hire people to fill positions...

I'd be somewhat surprised if there was anyone here who did...or has, but you never know.

I don't know about San Jose, but I know they are REALLY busy up here in Oregon. So, there may be some truth in what they are telling him. Does seem like quite a long while though....

thats funny, ultimately I would like to transfer to Oregon if I get the position, the only half way entry level job they have there is assistant PM.

Well, the Portland Office has been hiring electricians like mad. Don't know for sure, but it does seem like they've submitted a few calls for PM's and estimators in the last 2 months. There was a bit of a delay on one of their biggest projects, and it should be ramping up after the first of the year.
