I applied for a job as a customer service rep. Anyone work for them? What do they pay? Looking for something that beats data entry during the day and waiting tables at night. I have a B.A. but not much experience outside of customer service. I would be very happy with a job that payed $14 a hour.

I work for Comcast. I'm in the IP Support department. I started out at 12.02 an hour. I beleive regular customer service reps start at 10 something an hour.

I used to for years and years. There's a reason that tech support is rated the second most stressful job in the states next to air traffic control. Don't do it. Don't do it.

It's not all that bad. I get maybe 1 or 2 calls at most per day of someone screaming and threatening to end my life. I think it's quite funny.

Ok thanks for the info. The one thing I didnt like about their requirements were that employees could be asked to work overtime and weekends. At $10 a hour, ill need to keep my night job waiting tables and getting random overtime probably wouldnt be good for my night job.

Some of my calls do get recorded, but I have no idea of which ones or when. I also have no access to them. Would be fun though, I could make a whole website about them.

My favorite type of calls are the people who call in during a power outage and ask why their internet isn't working.... I sit in silence for a good 30 seconds before I try to explain the them the wonders of electricity.

It's easy to tell when your calls are recorded.. just load task manager, when you get a call and the cpu usage jumps up.. bingo the call is being recorded :)

some of the supervisors caught on to that, and simply recorded every call from that point on :)

I used to take ~60 calls a day with someone almost always angry at either their bill or their service. Call center work for Comcast (after @home split up) made me hate life.
