So I'm tossing around the idea of leaving the IT industry and trying to get an entry level job in Alberta somewhere on an oil rig. Some of the guys I went to Computer College with who couldn't find IT jobs went to do this and are clearing $6,000 a month (which is a fvck load more than I'm making) + $40 a day for food + free room.
Anyway, I am wondering what training/certs oil companies look for? I will be getting my H2S Alive cert later this month and possible my class 3 license with air brake ticket (because some people have recommended that).
Also, does anyone know of any good companies to work for in Alberta? The only one I've found isPrecision Drilling...
Info and suggestions greatly appreciated...
